We hike very often in the south of Tuscany and nevertheless we never get enough. Maybe no other region offers such beauty and the famous Orcia – valley is surely the essence. Soft hills, cypress trees, medieval villages and picturesque farmhouses. But there are so many other places to see. The Chianti area with its vineyards, woods, olive groves, castles and elegant wineries is almost obligatory. We go to famous Montalcino and sip a glass of Brunello after a good hike to the most beautifully located Romanesque church of Tuscany. And let’s us go to the lonely Crete senesi which offers a unique landscape and an important monastery built to defy Satan in isolation. Cortona is worth another scenic hike towards mount Egidio and on the way back we will stop in charming little town which has become famous as the setting of “Under the Tuscan sun”.
The south of Tuscany is simply unforgettable!
